Privacy Policy

Anwyra writes you an alternative life. It starts from what you tell it at the beginning — and that can be about you: your name, age, city, work, education, a rough income range, the people close to you. You may also invent any of it; the app does not check. This page says plainly what we hold, where it lives, who else sees it, and how to remove it.

The short version. We keep your sign-in, the details your story starts from, and the chapters you have read. To write chapters we send those details to an AI model provider (OpenAI or Anthropic, in the USA). We do not run ads, there are no analytics or tracking libraries, we never sell anything to anyone, and we do not read your contacts. If the app crashes it sends us a short technical crash report — never the text of your story. A photo you pick as an avatar never leaves your phone.

1. Who is responsible

Anwyra is operated by its developer, Tatiana Zagrebelnaia, who is responsible for your data (the “controller”). For any question about this policy or your data, write to privacy@anwyra.com. We answer within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

Faith or worldview

On the personality screen you may tell us your faith or worldview. Under the GDPR (Article 9) religious belief is a special category of personal data, so we treat it separately. The question is optional: the default answer is “Skip”, and a life can be created without answering it. If you do choose an answer, you give us your explicit consent to use it for one purpose only — to shape the story, for example which holidays and rites your character keeps. For that purpose it is sent to the AI model provider together with the other starting details (see 3), and it is stored with your life on your phone and in its copy in Firebase (EU). You can withdraw your consent at any time: start a new life (Settings → Start a new life) and choose “Skip”, or delete your account. Chapters written before that stay as they are.

What we never collect

3. Who else sees anything

Google (Firebase)

Sign-in, the database, the server functions and notifications run on Google Firebase. The database is located in the European Union. The server function that passes text to the AI model runs in Google’s US region (us-central1). Google processes this data on our instructions.

OpenAI and Anthropic (the model that writes)

Each chapter is written by a language model from OpenAI or Anthropic, depending on the model in use; both companies are in the USA. To write it, we send the model what the story needs to stay consistent: the starting details you entered (name, age, work, city, family, income range and the rest), what happened in earlier chapters, and any question you ask the narrator. Please enter only what you are comfortable sharing — invented details work just as well. Your email address and account identifier are never sent. The model provider processes this on our behalf and does not use it to train its models. It may keep these requests for up to 30 days to detect abuse, and then deletes them.

Resend (email)

Emails that confirm your address or reset your password are sent through Resend, a US company. To deliver them, Resend receives your email address and the text of that email.

DiceBear (drawn portraits)

Some drawn portraits are loaded from api.dicebear.com. The request carries the portrait’s drawing settings (such as hair and background colour) and, like any request on the internet, your IP address. No account data goes with it.

Google Fonts

When the app is shown in Arabic, Hindi, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean or Chinese, it downloads the matching Noto font from Google Fonts. This website also loads its fonts from Google Fonts. In both cases Google sees your IP address.

Exchange rates

To show amounts in your currency, the app downloads current exchange rates from open.er-api.com. Only your IP address reaches it, as with any request on the internet.

Transfers to the USA

Our database is in the EU, but part of the processing happens in the USA: the server function that passes text to the AI model, OpenAI and Anthropic, and Resend. These transfers are covered by each provider’s data processing agreement, which includes the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Cloudflare

The illustrations, portraits and gift images are served from cdn.anwyra.com. Loading an image tells Cloudflare your IP address, as loading any image on the internet does. No account data goes with it.

Apple and Google (payments)

Payments are handled entirely by the App Store and Google Play. We never see your card. We receive only a receipt confirming that a purchase happened.

4. What other people see

Nobody reads your chapters. Ever. They are not shown to other users, not published, and not used as examples.

Your friends — and only them, plus anyone you send a friend request to — can see the card of your character: name, age, trade, city and portrait, plus how many chapters that character has lived. Friends also see when your character has a life event — a wedding, a move, a loss — as a single line, without the text of the chapter.

If you switch on crossings, your character's country, trade and invented name may be offered to another reader so that the two characters can meet inside a scene. This is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any moment in Settings.

5. How long we keep it

6. Deleting everything

Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your account and the data attached to it. You do not need to write to us or explain anything; the button is in the app on purpose.

Step-by-step, and what exactly goes: Deleting your account.

If you cannot reach the button — a lost phone, for instance — write to privacy@anwyra.com from the address you signed up with, and we will do it for you.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to a copy of your data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict how it is used, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Write to privacy@anwyra.com and we will do it. There is no charge and no form to fill in.

8. Children

Anwyra is not for children. The life it writes includes adult subjects — illness, divorce, loss, war, prison. You must be 16 or older to use it, or older where your country requires it. We do not knowingly hold data about anyone younger; if we learn that we do, we delete it.

9. Changes to this page

New versions of this policy are posted on this page with a new date at the top. If a change is material, we will also tell you before it takes effect, by a push notification or a message in the app. We will not quietly widen what we collect.
